Share your ideas with your school, community and the rest of the world to inspire them and spread the magic of your story and the power of I CAN!

It is with this simple and proven FIDS (Feel, Imagine, Do, Share) framework that Design For Change, the largest movement of change, by and for children, has been moving forward since its inception in 2009.

Having empowered 2.03 million students in 69 countries and regions across the world to tackle everyday problems, the international community is coming to Greece to amplify its hopeful, innovative, and creative message.

The World Human Forum (WHF), the network’s local partner, will co-host the annual Design for Change “Be The Change” celebration in Athens in November 2026.

In a world of ever-growing challenges, we firmly believe that young minds have the power to drive change for a brighter future. The movement is spearheaded by a global network of passionate community leaders, social entrepreneurs, designers and educators who are committed to unleashing the I CAN superpower in every child. Through the values of empathy, imagination, action and collaboration, children identify any situation that bothers them and work in teams to implement their solution in order to create a more desirable and sustainable future, today! Design for Change welcomes everyone, no matter their culture, religion, language, gender, or age.

Design for Change: an international community of passionate change-makers

Over the years, young people in the programme have taken meaningful action, creating imaginative solutions to the challenges in their communities and proudly declaring ‘I CAN.’ They prove that they can address even the most critical problems.

Among other initiatives, in Taiwan, three boys created a prototype earthquake emergency bag lined with a pillow to protect the head. In Spain, five-year-olds from Colegio Natzaret Esplugues collaborated with the local municipality to redesign dustbins so they would be accessible to all ages. Students from IE Rural Hojas Anchas School in Colombia designed a toy plane to tackle deforestation in their community. Meanwhile, noticing a tragic rise in teenage suicides in their hometown, children from Sandpoint, Idaho, USA, sought to understand the underlying causes and create an environment of acceptance and mental resilience for their peers.

Design for Change: the Greek experience

From November 21 to 24, 2024, three students from the 11th Primary School of Korydallos, together with their supervising teacher, represented Greece for the first time at the annual Design for Change Global Summit in Dubai. Their unique and effective solutions addressed vehicle parking issues in the Korydallos area. The event gave them a platform to share their story of positive change, as well as to exchange ideas and experiences with children from around the world, sharpening their creative thinking and leadership skills.

As Dr Anezina Solomonidou, planetologist, Senior Scientist at the Hellenic Space Center and Greece’s representative for the World Human Forum, has stated: “The essence and uniqueness of this programme lies in its ability to encourage children to create their own conditions and frameworks for society, rather than simply accept existing systems, which often do not work. It represents inspiration, interaction and participation at their very best and most progressive form.”

An international event showcasing the power of children to shape the future, the annual Design for Change “Be The Change” celebration offers the Greek educational community a unique chance to explore innovative teaching approaches, while giving policymakers the opportunity to recognise the value of participatory learning.

About Design for Change

Launched in 2009 in India, the global Design for Change movement now counts 69 member countries and regions worldwide. 120,000 teachers in 33,000 schools have so far embraced its core values to nurture in all children the philosophy of action for positive change. Since 2024, Design for Change has also been active in Greece, in partnership with the World Human Forum.

About the World Human Forum

The World Human Forum is a think-and-do tank, a knowledge and action hub that seeks to contribute to the creation of a genuine ecological civilisation. With Delphi as its anchor and symbolic point of reference, it draws inspiration from iconic locations (Eleusis, Delos, Ancient Olympia, Aristotle’s Lyceum) and connects pioneering forces around the world, working towards a new narrative for humanity. Its methodology is embodied in the Delphic Cube, a holistic approach grounded in the values of sustainability and regeneration, democracy, education, inner transformation, science and technology, and art.

Feel, observe things that bother you.
