In 2024, Greece was represented in Design for Change by its first participating student team. Students from the 11th Primary School of Korydallos chose to address the issue of illegal parking on pavements and disabled access ramps. They recognised that this problem makes everyday life difficult for people with disabilities, senior citizens, and children, while also posing serious safety risks and limiting their freedom of movement.
Determined to create change, the students wrote a letter to the city mayor proposing practical solutions. To raise awareness, they also designed posters promoting legal parking and placed “penalty” and “reward” cards on vehicle windscreens—encouraging responsible behaviour and highlighting the impact of illegal parking.
Charalampos (Harry) Stasinopoulos, one of the passionate members of this inspiring team, now continues his journey as a member of Group B of the DFC Student Council 2026.
DFC’s Student Council is a child-driven platform that empowers children to become empathetic leaders, collaborate effectively, and communicate ideas for meaningful change. By fostering teamwork and amplifying student voices, it nurtures confident changemakers who strengthen the global “I CAN” movement.
Α dedicated core team will guide the DFC Student Council through fortnightly meetings across two groups, further nurturing leadership, collaboration, and communication. Mentors and student representatives will play a pivotal role in strengthening leadership and advancing student-led change initiatives.
Well done, Harry! We look forward to your enthusiastic participation.
